| 5540 was built by Beyer Peacock in 1897. And it was used until 1962. The Nippon Railway in that time imported this locomotive and named number 175. After that the Nippon Railway is nationalized and this class was renamed to 5500 class. Even BT40 class of Taiwan is the same series. The locomotive class of same existed numerously in Japan. And other locomotives works was Dubs, Neilson, Sharp Stewart. The locomotive of this class is preserved comparatively a lot, because it was used to the 1960's. |
